Job Description

Title: Safety Coordinator

Shift: First Shift, Monday - Friday

Location: Marietta, OH

Salary: $75,000 - $92,000, dependent on experience

Safety Coordinator Role:

This role is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health and safety programs to ensure the highest possible degree of employee safety and regulatory compliance. The Safety Coordinator will be a visible presence on the manufacturing floor, partnering with all levels of the organization to champion a culture of safety.

Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary and visible safety resource with a heavy presence on the production floor through assessments, audits, and GEMBA walks
  • Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs to ensure that all federal, state, and local laws are observed
  • Lead the joint Company/Union Safety Committee and associated safety walks
  • Facilitate the incident investigation process to ensure root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective actions
  • Manage all worker’s compensation cases and comply with all OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements
  • Perform regular program audits for key standards such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), confined space, and fall protection
  • Conduct daily, monthly, and annual inspections on safety equipment such as ventilation hoods, fire systems, and AEDs
  • Develop and maintain controls for identified hazards and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control systems
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and provide engaging monthly and annual safety training to all employees
  • Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws, or reporting requirements

Safety Coordinator Reporting Relationships:

This position will report directly to the Vice President of Operations and will have no direct reports.

About You:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a safety-related field
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant health and safety experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing worker’s compensation cases and maintaining OSHA recordkeeping
  • Demonstrate extensive experience working within a unionized workforce
  • Proven ability to analyze accident data and conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
  • Thrive on being present and active on the production floor rather than in an office
  • Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills with the ability to manage processes to completion
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to deliver effective training to all levels of the organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
