Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

POSITION SUMMARY:

You will perform a variety of duties designed to improve strength and mobility as directed by a Physical Therapist (PT). You will help patients become independent by using therapeutic procedures to administer manual exercises, instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients with non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report significant changes in the patient’s condition (physical or emotional), safety concerns, unusual occurrences, and adverse effects of medical devices to the physical therapist or nurse manager promptly
  • Utilize physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage as directed in plan of care
  • Observe, record, and report to the Physical Therapist, Clinical Manager, and Health Care Provider, the patient’s treatment and respond on a timely basis
  • Direct and aid patient/CG in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training 
  • Provide and document services in accordance with applicable State, Federal, Medicare, Medical regulations and standards and third-party payer guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

You will provide the very best care in rehabilitation and skilled treatment for patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, surgery or injuries to achieve positive outcomes, improve the quality of life, and reduce risk for hospitalization while delivering exceptional care

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in this state
  • At least one year of work experience under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist
  • Must have a vehicle, a valid current driver’s license, and automobile insurance
  • Ability to make home visits and provide physical therapy evaluations and treatments in the home environment, complete documentation effectively and submit in a timely manner.
  • Home Health and Home Care Home Base documentation experience preferred
